This week the men continue their journey in the Cricket World Cup League 2, hosting USA and UAE in the Laser Book Tri-Series at Mannofield, Aberdeen. Mannofield will welcome back international cricket for the first time since 2019 and hometown hero Matthew Cross will lead the side with Richie Berrington missing out through injury.  Cross grew up playing his cricket at Aberdeenshire so it will be familiar territory for the keeper.

After 3 wins out of 4 in Glasgow, Scotland sit second in the table 10 points behind Oman with 12 games in hand.  This proves to be a huge series as UAE and USA sit in 3rd and 4th respectively.

Head coach Shane Burger said “Incredibly sad to be losing the leader of the pack this week, he was starting to get settled in the role and his injury will no doubt be frustrating for him but also gives him a well-deserved break and time to refocus. This also brings an opportunity for Crossy to have a go at the captaincy and put his mark on the team.”

Stand in captain Matthew Cross said “Obviously it’s very disappointing that Berro isn’t with us this week and it’s going to be a big miss not having him around.  It’s a huge honour and privilege to captain my country especially where it all began for me at Aberdeenshire.

It will be the first time I’ve captained Scotland and I’m really looking forward to the challenge of this week and it’s a really important series in terms of trying to secure the top 3 spot in the CWCL2 and push on to try and win the rest of the competition.”

Tickets will be available at the gate for all games. £20 for Adults and £10 for youths.
