The Sydney Sixers have locked in their men’s and women’s teams for the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander T20 Cup, ahead of the three-day tournament beginning tomorrow in Albury.

The competition, featuring teams representing the Sixers, Sydney Thunder, Melbourne Stars and Melbourne Renegades (plus a combined Cricket Victoria women’s team) will be played across four grounds on Wiradjuri Country, kicking off on Friday afternoon and concluding on Sunday.

Both sides are set to feature a number of players fresh from the National Indigenous Cricket Championships (NICC) which took place in March, including players from the NSW men’s side that claimed a fourth consecutive title in Alice Springs.

NSW stars Lesley Smith, Jack Hartigan and Austyn Nugent will line up for the Sixers with four members of NSW’s women’s squad – Piper Hooke, Aili Martin, Mackenzie Keeler, and Roxsanne Van-Veen – also in action. Hooke, who was recently named in Cricket Australia’s National Women’s Indigenous squad is also set to take part in an inaugural tour of Vanuatu in May.

Playing shirts matching those worn by the WBBL and BBL teams this season will be worn by both squads, designed by local artist and Bidjigal woman Jordan Adler in collaboration with Sixers players Ashleigh Gardner (Muruwari) and Dan Christian (Wiradjuri), with artwork symbolising the connection of the wider Sixers community.
