Haris Rauf’s incredible rise through the ranks has been capped off by selection in the Pakistan T20 squad for their upcoming series against Bangladesh in Lahore, starting January 24.

Rauf joined up with the Melbourne Stars prior to the commencement of the BBL season as an injury replacement player for Dale Steyn. He hit the ground running straight away, and has become the Stars key wicket taker this season, accumulating 16 wickets at an average of 11.56 from his seven appearances so far this season. He currently is the second leading wicket taker in BBL09.

The strike bowler has an extraordinary month since being signed with the Stars, before this he was playing for Glenorchy Magpies in the Tasmanian Premier League when Stars List Manager Trent Woodhill plucked signed him, and now four weeks later he’s been included in his first international squad.

The 26-year-old launched on to the scene in his second appearance for the Stars in Moe against the Hobart Hurricanes, where he caused havoc for the batsman, finishing with figures of 5-27.

Following on from his maiden five wicket hall, Rauf’s most memorable moment was the incredible hat-trick he took against the Sydney Thunder at the MCG, which sent the home crowd into rapture.

Rauf has flourished as the Stars strike weapon and everyone at the club is super proud of his achievement in making the Pakistan T20 squad and wish him the best of luck for the series. We look forward to hopefully his pending return for the upcoming BBL finals series.
