Sixers debutant last season Hayden Kerr was this week named one of four O’Reilly Medallists as the best and fairest male player in Men’s NSW Premier Cricket.

The 23-year-old Sydney University allrounder tied on 13 votes with Randwick Petersham opening batsman Will Affleck, Northern District allrounder Scott Rodgie and Hawkesbury teenager Nivethan Radhakrishnan, announced on Thursday.

It was the first four-way tie for the Bill O’Reilly Medal named in honour of the late, great Australian leg-spinner and journalist.

The Premier Cricket Awards were announced progressively during the week on social media due to the COVID-19 pandemic preventing an awards ceremony.

The O’Reilly Medal and Women’s Premier Cricket Player of the Year were determined based on a 3-2-1 points system awarded by the umpires after each match.

Kerr scored 861 runs for Sydney University last season across the Twenty20, one-day and two-day formats at an average of 53.8. His tally included 370 in the Kingsgrove Sports T20 Cup averaging nearly 100 and striking at 168.2.

He also claimed 20 wickets at 21.3 across all formats with his left-arm pace. Kerr bats right-handed.

Kerr smashed 121 not out from 70 balls against Hawkesbury in the T20 Cup including eight sixes.

He played five matches in his debut season for the Sixers which also happened to be the club’s second BBL title.

Kerr also made his NSW Blues debut during their final match of the 2019 Marsh One-Day Cup in November.
