Rising teenage star Hayley Silver-Holmes has signed a new two-year deal with the Sydney Sixers.

Still 16, the promising allrounder will enter her third season as a Sixer when WBBL|06 begins in mid-October. In 2018, Silver-Holmes became the youngest ever Sixers debutant at just 15, playing her first game against the Perth Scorchers at North Sydney Oval.

The Hills Sports High School year 11 student turns 17 on August 18.

Sydney Sixers captain Ellyse Perry was excited by Silver-Holmes’ re-signing and full of praise for the teen’s potential.

“It’s lovely to have Hayley re-sign at the Sixers,” Perry said.

“She’s an incredibly talented cricketer who possesses a level of maturity and understanding about her bowling that is beyond her years.

“It’s also a wonderful opportunity for our club and Cricket NSW to play a continued role in Hayley’s development. She has the potential to be a world class T20 bowler.”

In her first two seasons with the Sixers, Silver-Holmes played 28 matches, claiming nine wickets with her accurate medium pace.

Silver-Holmes has already experienced a WBBL Finals campaign, in WBBL|04, playing both the Final and the famous semi-final against the Melbourne Renegades that ended in a Super Over.

“It’s exciting times for the Sixers family and to be part of that is amazing,” said the teenager.

“It’s funny, there was a Sixers Sister (event) and my player was Ellyse Perry and I had looked up to her since I first started.

“There was a photo of the two of us and it’s just funny that I’m playing with her and she’s captaining our team. It’s exciting.

“As a young player, playing with your idol is awesome.”

In 2019/20, Silver-Holmes became the second youngest NSW Breaker to make her Women’s National Cricket League debut, playing her first match alongside fellow teen sensation Phoebe Litchfield.

Silver-Holmes finished last season as the equal fifth leading wicket-taker in the WNCL. The 16-year-old returned 12 wickets at an average of 20 including 3-18 from eight overs against Queensland, which earned her Player of the Match.

She was part of the Breakers XI that took the field for the WNCL Final in February won by Western Australia at North Sydney Oval.
