Afghanistan leg-spinner Rashid Khan has become the youngest and fastest player to reach 300 T20 wickets, in just 213 matches.

Rashid achieved the milestone while playing for the Barbados Tridents in the 2020 Caribbean Premier League at 21 years and 335 days, surpassing Sunil Narine who reached it at 29.

He also did it in the least amount of matches with 213, eclipsing Lasith Malinga who did it in 222 matches.

Rashid began his T20 career in Afghanistan’s tour of Zimbabwe in 2015 when he was just 17, and has since dominated the shortest format in competitions across world cricket.

He has represented the Strikers for the past three years, setting the competition alight with 56 wickets, including a maiden KFC BBL hat-trick last season.

The fan-favourite has expressed his desire to stay with the Adelaide franchise, vowing to stay loyal to the team that gave him his Big Bash start.

Elsewhere, Rashid has taken 89 wickets in 48 matches for Afghanistan, and 55 wickets in 46 matches for Sunrisers Hyderabad in the Indian Premier League.

He was also the fastest to reach 100 ODI wickets in just 44 matches back when he was 19, surpassing Mitchell Starc who did it in 52.
