Tonight’s KFC Big Bash match between Perth Scorchers and Melbourne Stars at Marvel Stadium has been postponed.

A member of the Stars’ support staff received a positive COVID-19 test result this afternoon. All Stars players and staff who have been in contact with the positive case then undertook PCR tests as soon as possible and are awaiting results.

The League will advise a new date for the match as soon as possible.

Ticket holders for tonight’s match will be contacted directly regarding the refund process.

The League and all Clubs will continue to prioritise the safety of all players, match officials, staff, fans and the wider community throughout the KFC BBL|11 season

Alistair Dobson, Cricket Australia’s General Manager of Big Bash Leagues, said:

“While regrettable, the decision to postpone tonight’s match was the only option available given the exposures within the Stars cohort.

“The League has a number of biosecurity protocols in place to keep our participants safe and the competition moving forward. These protocols are regularly reviewed in response to the risks in each state. Safety remains our number one priority and we will work with the Stars to get their side back on the field as soon as possible.”
