Women’s cricket is on the rise and Wanstead Cricket Club, one of the top women’s teams in UK, will be touring Oman for a 9-day tour, starting on January 15.

Vaishali Jesrani will be leading the Oman side whereas Fiza Javed will be her deputy for the series. Oman Cricket has picked an exciting bunch of experienced and budding cricketers who will be in action against Wanstead CC for one 30-over game and three T20 matches at the picturesque Al Amerat Cricket Stadium.

The tour opens with a 30-over day-night clash starting at 2.30 pm on January 16 followed by T20 games on January 18, 20 and 21 starting at 10.30 am.

With a strong girls team, Wanstead CC is likely to pose a strong challenge to Oman Women’s team and Oman captain is fully alive to the task ahead.

“While the girls are all geared up to compete against a quality side, the series offers an excellent opportunity for the youngsters in Oman team to come forward and showcase their talent,” said Vaishali, who is also Women’s Coordinator at Oman Cricket.

Oman squad: Vaishali Jesrani (captain), Fiza Javed (vice-captain), Amanda D’costa, Nikhita Jagadish, Sameera Khan, Hina Javed, Afida Aftab, Suhanthika Sahiva, Prinka Mendonca, Snehal Nair, Nayan Anil, Shreya Prabhu, Bhakti Shetty, Sakshi Shetty.

Reserves: Alifia Sayed, Clarita Saldana, Nitya Joshi, Sani-e Zehra.

Team officials: Haider Ali (manager/head coach), Desmond Berhardt, Amir Kaleem (assistant coaches), Vijay Kaliswaran (physio).
