Cricket has scored a huge win in infrastructure funding across New South Wales after Round Two of the Greater Cities & Regional Sports Facilities Funds 2021-22 were announced by the NSW Office of Sport.

In an incredible boost for the state’s most popular summer sport, there were 22 successful cricket specific projects.

The Greater Cities Sport Facility Fund (GCSFF), for all Metro, Newcastle & Wollongong projects, saw 12 successful recipients, while the Regional Sports Facilities Funds (RSFF) will benefit 10 cricket projects.

The funding will be spent on a variety of local projects (see tables below), including, but not limited to the construction of accessible facilities that meet and exceed universal design requirements for people with disabilities, all female change rooms, new cricket nets, improved lighting infrastructure and modernised first aid facilities.

Cricket NSW CEO Lee Germon praised the NSW Government’s commitment to building and upgrading the state’s sport facilities

“These grants are about recognising the integral role local sport infrastructure plays in keeping our communities healthy, active and connected,” Germon said.

“For that we say a collective thank you to the NSW Government and the Office of Sport, and also to the volunteers, that selflessly give their time and effort to make our sport such an enjoyable experience.

“The grants will help us to inspire more people to play and love cricket, particularly in helping to encourage the participation of women and girls and people with a disability.”
