Cricket Scotland has today appointed Anjan Luthra as its new Chair.

Mr Luthra will take up the two-year post with immediate effect bringing vast expertise, skill and passion from his career across sport, private equity and business.

Following a rigorous selection process, chaired by sportscotland, the selection committee unanimously recommended Mr Luthra.

His immediate priority will be helping rebuild Cricket Scotland following publication of the Plan4Sport Changing the Boundaries report into racism in Scottish cricket.

Mr Luthra is the Co-Founder and CEO of RAMP, a global media company headquartered in London. Anjan previously founded Thrillz, the UK’s largest celebrity entertainment technology platform, which attracted high-profile private and strategic investors at a multimillion dollar valuation.

Before this Mr Luthra spent several years in private equity and venture capital where he served on the boards of a number of leading investment firms. Mr Luthra is a Chartered Accountant having qualified with EY in Scotland and operated in corporate finance where he restructured high profile Scottish firms.

Outside of business, Mr Luthra represented Scotland at tennis and cricket as a junior and remains a highly passionate sports fan. Mr Luthra said: “Over a decade ago, playing international cricket for Scotland Under 15, 17 and 19s was the proudest moment of my life. It is an honour to join Cricket Scotland as Chair and I look forward to working with all stakeholders in transforming the organisation.

“Cricket has been a major part of my life and I am excited to bring my experience across business, technology and sport to elevate Scottish cricket domestically and on the international stage.

“The Changing the Boundaries report highlighted serious institutional failings and I am committed to implementing the recommendations and findings from the report as we rebuild the organisation, starting with the appointment of independent board members. Major challenges and opportunities lie ahead and I am excited about what the future holds for Cricket Scotland.”

Gordon Arthur, Interim CEO of Cricket Scotland, commented: “I congratulate Anjan for being appointed the new Chair of Cricket Scotland. Anjan’s appointment is a major step in moving Scottish cricket forward. He is accomplished, dynamic and entrepreneurial with ambitious plans to develop the game of cricket.

“He has vast experience in the business world and brings the perfect combination of skills, passion, experience and ambition. The Chair will lead the governance review that is one of the major recommendations emanating from ‘Changing the Boundaries’ and provides an important bridge to the International Cricket Council, sportscotland and our other stakeholders.”
