The South Australian Cricket Association (SACA) today announces a three-year scheduling package with Cricket Australia (CA), which has locked-in December Tests against India in 2024 and England in 2025.

The agreement also confirms details for the 2023/24 Australian summer of cricket, which will see Adelaide Oval host a day Test in January 2024 against the West Indies as well as a Men’s T20 International and Women’s One Day International.

SACA President Will Rayner said the new agreement negotiated with CA will save SACA up to $8.4 million to host Test match cricket over the three-year agreement period.

“That will allow the injection of $2m into the SACA ‘Places to Play’ Infrastructure fund for schools and women’s cricket in SA and will accelerate further investment in members’ facilities at Adelaide Oval,” Mr Rayner said.

Importantly, Cricket Australia have also committed to a new process for long-term match allocation, to be completed this year, providing a transparent and consistent basis for the allocation of future Test matches amongst all states.

“We are pleased that CA has listened to SACA’s concerns about the process for the allocation of Test Match cricket in Australia,” Mr Rayner said.

“CA has committed to a process that recognises the value, support and contribution created by SACA members and the broader South Australian cricketing public, and ensures it will not be taken for granted in future scheduling decisions.

“The money that this agreement provides SACA to invest in grassroots, community, school and women’s cricket will be transformational.

“It will allow schools and clubs to regenerate their ovals and pitches. It will allow investment in facilities and infrastructure that support our rapidly growing women’s game and participation.”

Today’s announcement concludes extended negotiations between SACA and CA over future scheduling arrangements. SACA CEO Charlie Hodgson said a range of compelling options had been presented to CA.

“SACA put forward several long-term scheduling options that would have created significant new revenues for the good of the game at all levels,” Mr Hodgson said.

“We look forward to developing these further with CA over the coming months to ensure our members continue to see the greatest cricketers in the world play at the world’s finest cricket ground, while providing benefits for cricket across the board.

“International fixtures at Adelaide Oval, hosted by SACA, have consistently produced large, engaged crowds and we know that will be the case again throughout this three-year schedule.”

CA’s new process is expected to provide certainty over Adelaide Oval Test Match scheduling until 2031.
