Cricket 365 is the mantra at Cricket NSW and we certainly want to start playing club cricket as early as possible this 2023/24 season.

This year’s Ashes in the UK has provided a unique opportunity for clubs to start early and increase registrations as families gather around their televisions and watch our Aussie heroes in prime time.

In a bid to reward clubs that opened registrations during the Ashes series, when interest and enthusiasm are heightened, CNSW organised a promotion for clubs that were open for business.

The prizes for the Clubs Open for Ashes promotion ranged from meet and greets and net sessions with players to multiple BBL memberships for clubs to distribute.

Early numbers suggest that clubs who are open for business earlier have lots more registrations than they ever have before at this point of the season.

The winners were selected completely at random through an online ’wheel of fortune’ platform, using a list of eligible clubs. The winners for the first draw were:

  • Cranebrook Cricket Club: 1st prize (Net Session with W/BBL player at Cricket Central)

  • Engadine Dragons CC & Brisbane Water CC: 2nd prize (Meet and greet with player)

  • Epping Bulls CC, Thornleigh CC, Pennant Hills DCC, Hoxton Park Tigers, Jordan Springs CC, St Patrick’s CC Sutherland: 3rd prize (5 x BBL Memberships for each club)

The clubs will be notified of their prizes by their local cricket managers.

“This is our way of thanking the clubs for their proactive approach in embracing the opportunity to play and love cricket. These clubs have set the scene for a successful season ahead and deserve to be recognised for their initiative,” said Craig McLean, Head of Community Cricket, Cricket NSW.
