Indian cricket’s recent success across formats and age groups will be celebrated later this week as the Board of Control for Cricket in India prepares to host its annual awards ceremony, Naman, in New Delhi.
The March 15 event will bring together players, coaches and support staff from several Indian teams that lifted ICC trophies over the past year. BCCI Secretary Devajit Saikia confirmed the details while speaking to IANS on Tuesday, explaining that the ceremony will recognise multiple national squads that achieved global success.
Outlining the plan for the ceremony, Saikia said, “The BCCI Awards ceremony will happen on March 15 in New Delhi. We are going to invite all the ICC tournament winners, including the recent T20 World Cup champions, as well as coaches. Apart from the senior men’s team, the senior women’s team, U19 boys side, and U19 girls team, who won the trophy in 2025, will also be invited.”
Five ICC-winning teams to be celebrated
The Naman Awards will recognise a remarkable run of ICC triumphs for India across different levels of the sport.
Saikia noted that another major international triumph will also be included in the celebrations. “We will also invite the 2025 Champions Trophy winning team members too. So, five ICC trophies won by various Indian teams during the course of last one year – all the members of those teams will be honoured on the awards night and it will be a great evening,” he added.
Record prize money for T20 World Cup champions
One of the major highlights surrounding India’s recent triumphs has been the record financial reward announced for the men’s T20 World Cup-winning team.
The BCCI has confirmed a cash prize of INR 131 crore (approx. US$ 14 million) for the squad and its support staff, marking the largest reward ever allocated to an Indian cricket team.
Providing an update on how the amount will be distributed, Saikia explained that details will be confirmed soon. “Regarding the prize money breakdown for the 2026 Men’s T20 World Cup winning team, we’ll let you know soon. But the total amount of Rs 131 crore, this is an unprecedented amount given to any victorious Indian team by the BCCI. Apart from the winning team, all support staff and selectors will get this money too,” he stated.
IPL 2026 schedule announcement expected soon
The awards ceremony will take place just days before the start of the next Indian Premier League season, with many players expected to head directly to their franchise camps after attending the event.
As preparations for the tournament continue, Saikia also confirmed that the IPL 2026 schedule will be released in stages. “We plan to announce the IPL 2026 schedule by March 12. For now, we are going to announce the IPL 2026 schedule for the first 20 days,” he continued.
With India’s teams delivering multiple ICC titles across formats within a short span, the upcoming Naman Awards ceremony is set to serve as a major celebration of the country’s expanding footprint in global cricket.
