Capricorn Eagles appoint Gerhard Lotter as assistant coach to boost women’s cricket in Namibia

Multi-sport national athlete turned coach, Lotter brings experience and leadership to Namibia’s women’s cricket team as part of Cricket Namibia’s long-term performance vision

Cricket Namibia has officially appointed Gerhard Lotter as the new Assistant Coach of the Capricorn Eagles, the national women’s cricket team, marking a major step in enhancing the team’s coaching structure.

Lotter, a well-known figure in Namibian sports, has supported the Capricorn Eagles on various international tours over the past five years. His transition into a full-time role signals Cricket Namibia’s intent to invest in the long-term growth and success of women’s cricket in the country.

🏏 Multi-sport pedigree and international experience

Lotter’s background is as impressive as it is diverse. He has represented Namibia at national youth level in cricket, hockey, and rugby:

  • Played in three ICC U19 Cricket World Cup Qualifiers
  • Participated in the U17 Hockey Youth Olympic Qualifiers
  • Competed in two U18 Craven Week Rugby tournaments and the U20 Rugby World Trophy

Lotter went on to play rugby for Western Province and False Bay Rugby Club in South Africa, eventually earning a place in the Namibia national rugby team.

🎓 From elite athlete to coaching leader

His coaching journey began with eight years at Windhoek Gymnasium, where he led the First Cricket Team and developed young talent in rugby and hockey. He also managed development programs through the GCE Cricket Academy and most recently coached Wanderers Cricket Club for two seasons.
