Cricket Australia (CA) is calling on Australians of all ages and backgrounds to get involved in what it expects to be the biggest summer of cricket in history. Following record-breaking crowds and broadcast figures last season, the 2025–26 summer is already delivering sold-out matches, surging ticket sales, and unprecedented public enthusiasm.

Nationwide participation push after record growth

The call to action follows a strong report from the 2024–25 Community Cricket Census, which highlighted significant increases in:

  • Junior cricket participation
  • Women and girls in cricket
  • Multicultural community engagement

CA aims to build on that momentum by encouraging involvement at every level—from backyard cricket to club competitions, from Woolworths Cricket Blast to the newest social formats and volunteering programs.

Todd Greenberg: “Cricket is for everyone”

Cricket Australia CEO Todd Greenberg emphasized the inclusive vision for the game:

“There’s never been a better time to get involved in cricket. Whether you’re five or sixty-five, whether you want to play, coach, umpire or volunteer—there’s a place for everyone in the game.”

“We want this summer to be remembered not just for what happens on the international stage, but for the incredible growth and energy in communities right across the country.”

More ways to participate than ever before

CA is promoting a wide variety of entry points to the sport:

  • Woolworths Cricket Blast for junior players
  • Club and community cricket for all ages
  • New social formats for casual players
  • Coaching, umpiring, and volunteering opportunities

Whether someone picks up a bat, ball, clipboard, or barbeque tongs, there’s a role for everyone to contribute to the summer of cricket.

Biggest summer of cricket already underway

Australia’s international cricket season is already creating excitement in the Top End, and the energy is building across the country. With packed venues and surging demand for tickets, the summer promises to be a landmark chapter for the sport both on and off the field.
