Cricket South Africa to honour standout performers from historic 2024/25 season

Cricket South Africa (CSA) will celebrate a landmark year for South African cricket at the CSA Awards 2024/25, set to take place on 31 July at Emperors Palace in Kempton Park, Johannesburg.

The prestigious event, which will be broadcast live on SuperSport at 19:00, will honour the players, match officials, and contributors who shaped one of the most successful seasons in South African cricket history.

Proteas men and women recognised after record-breaking year

This season saw the Proteas Men reach their first-ever ICC Men’s T20 World Cup final and go on to win the ICC World Test Championship Final 2025. Meanwhile, the Proteas Women advanced to their second consecutive ICC Women’s T20 World Cup final in the UAE.

At the youth level, the South Africa U19 Women made history by qualifying for the final of the ICC U19 Women’s T20 World Cup 2025 in Malaysia.

Men’s Player of the Year nominees include Temba Bavuma, Marco Jansen, Keshav Maharaj, Ryan Rickelton, and Kagiso Rabada. On the women’s side, Annerie Dercksen, Marizanne Kapp, Nonkululeko Mlaba, and Laura Wolvaardt are in contention.

Domestic dominance and rising stars to be celebrated

In domestic cricket, the DP World Lions defended their T20 Challenge crown and shared the 4-Day Series title with the Momentum Multiply Titans. The Hollywoodbets Dolphins clinched the 1-Day Cup title.

In women’s domestic competitions, Western Province retained their Hollywoodbets Pro20 title, while the DP World Lions triumphed in the Hollywoodbets Pro50 tournament.

Another successful edition of the Betway SA20 further showcased the depth and quality of South African T20 talent, adding to the list of highlights from the season.

Judging panel and Pathway Awards

The award nominees were selected by an esteemed panel comprising broadcaster Crystal Arnold, journalists Firdose Moonda and Khanyiso Tshwaku, SA U19 Convenor of Selectors Patrick Moroney, and Proteas legend Vernon Philander. Statistical analysis was provided by CSA Statistician Andrew Samson.

The CSA Pathway Awards, to be held on the same day in the morning, will spotlight age-group talent and grassroots heroes who have been instrumental in developing the game across South Africa.

“The CSA Awards are a celebration of excellence, perseverance and the undeniable spirit of South African cricket,” said CSA CEO Pholetsi Moseki. “We are proud to honour those who have inspired a nation and left an indelible mark on the game.”

The CSA Awards 2024/25 promise to be a night of celebration, recognition and reflection on a season that elevated South African cricket on the world stage.
