A new era of cricket merchandise in the WPL
The Delhi Capitals have taken a bold leap in reimagining team merchandise for the 2026 Women’s Premier League, transforming sustainability into a tangible reality with a first-of-its-kind initiative. Through a new partnership with NO MORE, a Ministry of Textiles–certified upcycled fashion and lifestyle label, the franchise has unveiled official team backpacks crafted entirely from legacy playing kits.
This initiative marks a significant milestone — the first time a WPL franchise has embedded circular design directly into its official gear. The result: handcrafted, one-of-one backpacks that carry not just gear, but meaning, memory, and mission.
From discarded kits to purposeful design
Rather than let last season’s jerseys go to waste, Delhi Capitals and NO MORE have carefully deconstructed the original kits, cutting key elements like team logos, panels, and pockets to build entirely new products. Each backpack retains the visual identity of the franchise while ensuring that no two are the same, a hallmark of NO MORE’s bespoke design approach.
The innovation doesn’t stop at fabric. Discarded car seat belts — chosen for their strength and durability — have been repurposed as haul loops, turning industrial safety materials into practical, everyday features. This fusion of function and upcycling reinforces the product’s performance credibility while reducing the environmental cost of traditional manufacturing.
A shared vision for purpose-driven sport
Sunil Gupta, CEO of Delhi Capitals, described the initiative as a natural extension of the team’s values and the WPL’s broader impact. “The league has been a powerful catalyst in the growth of women’s cricket, helping build a stronger, more conscious sporting ecosystem. Partnerships like this coming to life reflect how the league is evolving beyond performance to purpose. Giving back in meaningful ways is central to our philosophy at Delhi Capitals, and this collaboration with NO MORE allows us to align sport with sustainability, innovation, and long-term responsibility,” he said in an official statement.
This alignment between sport and sustainability is more than symbolic — it’s strategic. As younger, socially conscious fans engage with cricket, teams like Delhi Capitals are responding with merchandise that carries both identity and intent.
Building circularity into every stitch
At the heart of this collaboration is NO MORE’s circular production model. The brand, known for handcrafted, sustainable fashion, will oversee the design and manufacturing process from start to finish. Each backpack will not only be used by the team throughout the 2026 season but also play a central role in fan-facing campaigns and storytelling.
Founder Praveen Premkumar sees the partnership as a blueprint for the future of sports merchandise. “We are proud to partner with Delhi Capitals to set a new benchmark for sustainable sports merchandise. Designed and handcrafted in India, these backpacks demonstrate that sustainability can be embedded, not added, to performance-driven products. Our goal is to show that fashion, sport, and conscious design can come together to create high-quality products that honour both the planet and the legacy of athletes,” he said in an official statement.
NO MORE’s commitment doesn’t end at the point of sale. The brand will provide free lifetime repairs and a guaranteed buy-back programme to ensure that none of the backpacks ever reach landfills — reinforcing their philosophy that sustainability must extend across a product’s entire lifecycle.
Purpose-led innovation shaping the WPL’s future
The collaboration comes at a time when the Women’s Premier League is fast becoming a platform for more than just athletic performance. Franchises are increasingly investing in partnerships that prioritize environmental responsibility, innovation, and authenticity — values that resonate with a rising generation of fans.
By turning old jerseys into new statements of purpose, Delhi Capitals are not just redefining merchandise — they’re reshaping what it means to be a sports brand in the modern era.
