Port of Spain – June 20, 2025: The Trinbago Knight Riders (TKR) have named West Indies legend Dwayne “DJ” Bravo as their new head coach ahead of the Caribbean Premier League (CPL) 2025. The four-time CPL champion brings a blend of experience, charisma, and deep-rooted loyalty to guide the Knights toward a record-extending fifth title.

From star player to coach
Bravo starred for TKR across nine seasons (2013–2020, 2023–24), accumulating 129 wickets and 1,155 runs, and helping them capture four CPL titles. Now 41, the former all-rounder steps into the dugout, taking over from Phil Simmons, who has moved on to coach Bangladesh’s national team.

Bravo expressed his excitement on social media: “It’s an honor to be given the opportunity to be head coach of TKR, a team that’s very close to my heart… I look forward to this new challenge for me and my staff.”

Coaching credentials across formats
Following his retirement in 2024, Bravo coached the Abu Dhabi Knight Riders (ILT20), mentored Kolkata Knight Riders in IPL 2025, and worked as a bowling consultant for Chennai Super Kings (2023–24) and Afghanistan’s T20 World Cup squad.
Goal: bringing home the silverware
Newsday reports Bravo aims to “bring … passion, pride, success and some silverware to the home nation.” He also said he’s looking forward to developing local talent and reigniting the team’s competitive edge.
Next challenge begins August 17
TKR will begin their CPL 2025 campaign against the St Kitts & Nevis Patriots on August 17, with expectations high under Bravo’s leadership. His deep knowledge of the squad and franchise is set to shape a new era for the Caribbean’s most successful T20 team.
