Cricket Scotland has announced the appointment of Emma Calvert and Sadia Sheikh as new Independent Non-Executive Directors to the Cricket Scotland (CSCL) Board, bringing a combination of elite-level experience and deep community engagement to the governing body.
Emma Calvert to chair Performance Cricket Committee
Emma Calvert, currently Director of Women’s Cricket at Surrey County Cricket Club, joins as an Independent Non-Executive Director and will also serve as the Chair of the Performance Cricket Committee.
A qualified chartered accountant and former Lancashire youth cricketer, Calvert brings extensive cross-sport leadership experience, having worked with City Football Group and Morgan Stanley. She is also a Non-Executive Director at British Wheelchair Basketball.
Calvert has strong ties to Scotland, having lived in Glasgow for a decade, attending the University of Glasgow and beginning her professional career there.
Sadia Sheikh brings 30+ years of grassroots experience
Sadia Sheikh also joins as an Independent Non-Executive Director. A long-time member of Clydesdale Cricket Club in Glasgow, Sheikh has served on the club’s committee and is an ICC-accredited coach. She is an active advocate for the development of women’s and girls’ cricket in Scotland.
Professionally, Sheikh is an international communications and marketing director for Badar Expo Solutions, which specialises in B2B exhibitions, conferences, and sporting events. Her career combines global event expertise with a strong domestic cricket presence.
Cricket Scotland Chair welcomes new board members
Wilf Walsh, Chair of Cricket Scotland, commented on the appointments:
“I am delighted to welcome both Emma and Sadia to the Board of Cricket Scotland. Both will bring outstanding cricket experience that covers grassroots and community through to elite level.”
Walsh also confirmed that Jamie Cox, CSCL Board Member and CEO of Somerset CCC, will shift focus in his role:
“While Emma will Chair the Performance Cricket Committee, Jamie Cox will refocus his INED activity acting as our Board lead working alongside the ECB as we jointly prepare for the introduction of cricket at the Los Angeles Olympics in 2028.”
These appointments mark another step in Cricket Scotland’s commitment to governance reform, diversity, and long-term development at both grassroots and elite levels.
