European T20 Premier League launches with Maxwell, Smith and Ashwin among global stars

The new six-team franchise league brings international stars to Ireland and the Netherlands for its inaugural season, running from Aug. 26 to Sept. 20.

The European T20 Premier League has finally arrived – and here’s what you need to know.

The Teams

The ETPL features six franchise teams – two in Ireland, two in Scotland and two in the Netherlands. The teams are:

The Players

Each team has a minimum of seven “local” players from Ireland, Scotland or the Netherlands PLUS one player from a European nation outside of the three Boards listed above.

The remaining “overseas player” slots in the squad can be from any nation around the world.

The Venues

The tournament begins at Voorburg Cricket Club in the Netherlands, before moving to Malahide Cricket Club in Dublin, Ireland for the latter part of the league stage and the playoffs. Voorburg hosts the opening 17 matches, while Malahide stages the final stretch of the league, the Qualifier on 19 September and the Final on 20 September.

The Schedule

The first ball is set to be bowled on 26 August 2026 – and the Final set for 20 September 2026.
