The countdown to the Betway SA20 Season 4 Player Auction is officially on, with just one week left for local and overseas players to register for the highly anticipated event taking place on 9 September 2025 in Johannesburg.
Registrations will close on Monday, 18 August 2025 at 17h00 SAST. Players hoping to feature in one of the world’s fastest-growing T20 leagues are encouraged to register their interest here.
Record R131 million purse available for SA20 Season 4
The six franchises will compete for talent with a combined auction purse of R131 million, spread across 84 available slots to complete their 19-player squads. This makes Season 4 the biggest Betway SA20 auction since the league’s inception in 2022.
The list of pre-signed and retained players includes some of the game’s most electrifying names. International stars such as Nicholas Pooran, Andre Russell, Sunil Narine, Jos Buttler, and Jonny Bairstow will feature alongside Proteas powerhouses Aiden Markram, Lungi Ngidi, Dewald Brevis, and rising star Kwena Maphaka.

Durban’s Super Giants: R29.5 million
Sunrisers Eastern Cape: R21.5 million
Joburg Super Kings: R21.5 million
Paarl Royals: R14.5 million

The auction will be conducted by renowned auctioneer Richard Madeley and broadcast live on SuperSport from 13h30 in Sub-Saharan Africa and JioHotstar in India.
