Google has rolled out a cricket-themed doodle to mark the IPL 2026 playoffs as the tournament enters its decisive final phase, with the league’s knockout matches continuing to drive global fan engagement across digital platforms. The doodle appeared alongside Google Search ahead of the playoffs and features cricket imagery woven into the company’s logo, including a bat, ball, and stadium-inspired backdrop linked directly to IPL-related search results and live updates.

The timing of the launch coincides with a major week in the tournament, with Royal Challengers Bengaluru sealing a second consecutive IPL final appearance after defeating Gujarat Titans by 92 runs in Qualifier 1. RCB posted 254 for 5 before bowling Gujarat Titans out for 162 to secure a direct place in the final scheduled for May 31 in Ahmedabad.

Rajasthan Royals also kept their campaign alive after overcoming Sunrisers Hyderabad by 47 runs in the Eliminator. Rajasthan Royals scored 243 for 8 batting first before dismissing Sunrisers Hyderabad for 196, setting up a Qualifier 2 meeting against Gujarat Titans for the remaining place in the final against RCB.

Google deepens IPL partnership with AI integration

The doodle launch forms part of Google’s broader association with IPL 2026, with Google India serving as an Official Premier Partner of the tournament this season. The company has also expanded its cricket-focused AI features through Google Search AI Mode, introducing conversational and interactive match experiences tied to IPL coverage.

The partnership has also seen AI-backed analysis integrated into live IPL broadcasts for the first time, reflecting the growing role of artificial intelligence in sports engagement and fan consumption during major global tournaments.

Clicking the doodle directs users to IPL search pages featuring schedules, scores, standings, and live match coverage, further amplifying playoff visibility during the tournament’s most commercially valuable stage.

IPL playoffs driving global digital engagement

The IPL playoffs have consistently emerged as one of the tournament’s largest traffic and engagement periods across digital platforms, with franchises, sponsors, streaming services, and technology partners increasingly using knockout fixtures to launch fan-focused campaigns and interactive products.

The winner of Qualifier 2 between Gujarat Titans and Rajasthan Royals will advance to face RCB in the IPL 2026 final in Ahmedabad on May 31, bringing the tournament’s title race into focus alongside one of the IPL’s most visible global digital campaigns of the season.
