ICC Player of the Month nominees for May: all 3 men from Associates

The International Cricket Council (ICC) has announced its Player of the Month nominees for May 2025, recognizing standout performers in men’s and women’s international cricket. The shortlists feature three male and three female players who delivered exceptional performances in ODIs and T20Is throughout the month.

Men’s Player of the Month Nominees – May 2025

  • Brendon McMullen (Scotland)
    The 25-year-old all-rounder had a remarkable month in the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup League 2, scoring 233 runs and taking 10 wickets in five ODIs. His standout match came against the Netherlands, where he scored 101 off 88 balls and took 4 for 55 in Utrecht.
  • Milind Kumar (USA)
    The USA all-rounder struck 201 runs in four ODIs at a strike rate of 116.86 and claimed nine wickets. He made history with 115 not out from 67 balls against Canada and became the first U.S. player to score a fifty and take five wickets in the same ODI, against Oman.
  • Muhammad Waseem (UAE)
    Waseem excelled in both ODIs and T20Is. He scored 169 ODI runs in five matches and was named Player of the Series in the T20I series win over Bangladesh. As UAE captain and opener, he posted scores of 54 and 82 in Sharjah.

Women’s Player of the Month Nominees – May 2025

  • Hayley Matthews (West Indies)
    The top-ranked all-rounder in T20Is and No.2 in ODIs continued her stellar form with 177 runs at a strike rate over 137 in a T20I series against England. She added 48 runs and two wickets in the first ODI at Derby and was named Player of the Series in the T20Is.
  • Chloe Tryon (South Africa)
    Tryon impressed in the Sri Lanka tri-series with 176 runs at a 131.34 strike rate and six wickets. Her left-arm spin secured a five-for, including a hat-trick against Sri Lanka. She added valuable batting contributions against both India and Sri Lanka.
  • Jemimah Rodrigues (India)
    Rodrigues tallied 204 runs in three matches of the same tri-series. Her highlight was a brilliant 123 from 101 balls against South Africa. She also chipped in with 44 in the final against Sri Lanka, helping India secure the title.

How the ICC Player of the Month voting works

The ICC Voting Academy and fans worldwide decide the monthly winners. The Voting Academy—composed of former players, journalists, broadcasters, and ICC Hall of Fame members—contributes 90% of the vote, while registered fans account for 10% through votes cast at icc-cricket.com/awards.
