India and Australia have tightened their grip across formats in the latest ICC rankings update, while Sri Lanka emerged as the biggest movers in both white-ball formats. The annual ICC rankings refresh, which gives full weight (100%) to matches played since May 2024 and 50% to results from the two prior years, has triggered significant shifts in the standings for Tests, ODIs, and T20Is.

Australia hold top spot in Tests as England climb to second

Australia continue to lead the ICC Men’s Test Team Rankings with a rating of 126, although their advantage was slightly reduced to 13 points. Pat Cummins’ team remain the World Test Championship holders and sit comfortably ahead of rivals.

England, led by Ben Stokes, have moved into second place after winning three of their last four Test series, overtaking both South Africa and India. England now hold a rating of 113, with South Africa (111) and India (105) following behind. The rest of the Test top 10 remains unchanged, with New Zealand, Sri Lanka, Pakistan, West Indies, Bangladesh, and Zimbabwe rounding out the list.

Note: Ireland and Afghanistan remain outside the official Test rankings due to insufficient matches played over the qualifying period.

India consolidate top position in ODIs, Sri Lanka and Afghanistan climb

In the ICC Men’s ODI Rankings, India have further cemented their lead, improving from 122 to 124 rating points after a successful ICC Champions Trophy 2025 campaign. New Zealand, the tournament’s runners-up, climbed into second place, pushing Australia down to third.

Sri Lanka gained five points to jump into fourth, following impressive home series victories against India and Australia. They leapfrogged both Pakistan (now fifth) and South Africa (sixth), the latter losing four points.

Afghanistan also saw gains, rising to seventh at the expense of England, who slipped to eighth after a four-point drop. West Indies rose to ninth, overtaking Bangladesh, now tenth after losing four points.

The USA recorded the largest rating gain (six points) among ODI teams but stayed in 15th place. Oman also moved up one spot to 16th, overtaking Canada.

India lead record 100 teams in expanded T20I rankings

India remain at the top of the ICC Men’s T20I Rankings as reigning T20 World Cup champions, though their lead over second-placed Australia has narrowed to nine points.

This year’s update includes 100 teams for the first time, encompassing all nations that played at least eight T20Is over the past three years. England sit third, with New Zealand, West Indies, and South Africa completing the top six.

Sri Lanka continue their white-ball resurgence, overtaking Pakistan to move into seventh position. Bangladesh and Afghanistan hold the ninth and tenth spots, respectively. Ireland swapped places with Zimbabwe to claim 11th.

Canada made the biggest rating improvement in the T20I format, climbing nine points to break into the top 20. The Bahamas and Estonia were the biggest movers by position, rising eight and seven spots respectively.
