JioStar has reported TATA IPL 2026 as the tournament’s biggest season yet in terms of combined audience reach, with viewership across television and digital platforms climbing to 1.1 billion as the competition heads into the playoff stage. The broadcaster said sustained uncertainty in the standings, combined with high-stakes fixtures throughout the league phase, has helped maintain audience engagement across formats, devices and regions deep into the season.
Linear television viewership has remained stable and is tracking toward the 500 million mark, while digital reach has increased by 15% during the season. Digital watch-time has also risen by 7%, reflecting continued growth in streaming consumption during live matches.
Connected TV and regional viewing drive growth
Connected TV emerged as one of the strongest-performing segments during the tournament, with reach increasing by 25% and watch-time climbing 20%. Regional language coverage also recorded major growth, with watch-time rising by 42% as audiences increasingly consumed matches through language-specific feeds.
The broadcaster’s audience expansion has coincided with a tightly contested playoff race that has kept multiple franchises in qualification contention heading into the final phase of the league stage. The season has also been shaped by breakout performances from younger players alongside established international stars, contributing to consistently high engagement levels across matchdays.
Anup Govindan, Head of Sales, JioStar – Sports, said in an official statement, “What stands out this IPL season is the consistency of fan engagement right through the league stage across JioStar platforms. The competitive intensity has driven a week-on-week climb in reach, which shows how strongly the tournament is resonating with fans across screens. As the race to playoffs intensifies, JioStar continues to be the unmatched platform for bringing together scale, emotion and relevance for all our stakeholders.”
Advertiser participation expands during IPL 2026
JioStar also reported an increase in commercial participation during IPL 2026, with 125 additional advertisers joining the tournament compared to the previous season. The company said the advertiser base included a mix of long-established Indian brands and newer technology-focused businesses seeking national-scale visibility through the tournament.
The broadcaster added that 22 sponsors partnered across digital platforms during the season, while 16 brands aligned with its linear television coverage. The growth in sponsorship activity reflects the IPL’s continued value to marketers seeking mass reach across multiple audience segments.
Champions Wali Feed strengthens viewer engagement
Among the platform innovations introduced during the season was JioStar’s “Champions Wali Feed,” which featured former India players and cricket personalities delivering live analysis and match discussion alongside the main broadcast. Ravichandran Ashwin, Suresh Raina, Harbhajan Singh, Virender Sehwag and Irfan Pathan were among the contributors featured on the feed during the tournament.
The alternative presentation format combined tactical analysis, behind-the-scenes stories and live predictions as broadcasters increasingly look to diversify cricket viewing experiences across digital audiences.
With the tournament entering its decisive phase, JioStar’s latest audience figures underline both the IPL’s continued scale within the Indian sports market and the growing importance of digital and connected TV consumption in shaping the league’s future broadcast growth.
