Lions Cricket are delighted to announce a new partnership with Afrox, a supplier of industrial and medical gases, welding products and application solutions to industries across sub-Saharan Africa.

Effective immediately, the two year strategic alliance, provides further momentum as The Pride continue to pursue their ambitions both on and off the field. The partnership will also support the ongoing development of DP World Wanderers Stadium, with the shared vision of ensuring that Lions Cricket continues to set the Gold Standard for cricket and the broader events industry.

“Afrox shares our commitment to excellence, innovation, and creating environments that enable people and businesses to perform at their best. This partnership is an exciting step forward as we continue to enhance the incredible DP World Wanderers Stadium and ensure that it remains a world-class venue for cricket, entertainment and events, leading by example,” said Lions Cricket CEO Jono Leaf-Wright.

“We look forward to working closely with Afrox and creating meaningful value for both organisations over the years ahead and thank them deeply for walking a wonderful journey with us. In addition to our thanks, we would like to extend our congratulations to Afrox as they edge ever closer to their 100th anniversary – what a fine knock you are having, and what an honour it is to share our wicket with your team.”

Working together, Lions Cricket and Afrox aim to develop the game, support the players and grow the sport to make it more accessible to aspiring cricketers from all backgrounds. Both are fully committed to creating opportunities for young talent.

This past season, Lions Cricket continued to unlock new revenue streams by maximising the DP World Wanderers Stadium as a multi-purpose venue, hosting over 180 non-cricket events across entertainment, corporate, and community categories. This diverse calendar reinforces the stadium’s position as a leading destination, with strong attendance throughout the season.

Ferdinand Kuehner, CEO of Afrox, said:

“As Afrox approaches its centenary in Africa in 2027, this partnership gives us an opportunity to celebrate our longstanding connection with communities across the continent. Lions Cricket’s focus on performance, development and positive community impact aligns well with our own values.

“The DP World Lions’ ‘Gold Standard’ vision perfectly reflects our own pursuit of leadership, performance and continuous improvement.”

The two organisations aim to contribute positively to the cricketing community and support opportunities for future players.

With the new season innings declared open, Lions Cricket continues to invest strategically in key areas such as digital capability, fan engagement, and infrastructure, ensuring that The Pride is well-positioned for future growth. All this is made possible thanks to the key partners who remain central to The Pride’s success. Lions Cricket is deeply grateful for their continued belief in their vision.
