Former England women’s cricketer Lucy Pearson becomes the Taverners’ first ever female Chair. Pearson brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to the board, not only as a former international cricketer, but also as a former ECB Board member, Headteacher and most recently, Director of Education at the English Football Association.
Speaking about her new role, Pearson said: “I am honoured to take up the role at a charity that has such a wonderful history, and which delivers life-changing programmes for thousands of young people facing the challenge of inequality across the country every day.”

On Thursday 15 May, following the Lord’s Taverners AGM, Tim Luckhurst completed his five-year term as Chair during the charity’s 75th anniversary year. Luckhurst played a pivotal role in overseeing the transformation of the charity to what is now a more modern organisation that is entirely focused on delivering community cricket programmes for young people with disabilities and from disadvantaged backgrounds.
Tim Luckhurst added: “I’m humbled that our search for my successor attracted so many fantastic candidates and obviously delighted that Lucy wanted to join our Trustee board and lead the Lord’s Taverners as we strive to deliver more impactful work across the UK. Lucy’s recruitment is a further endorsement of the direction of travel for the Taverners and the high regard it is held within the game of cricket.”
The Lord’s Taverners, founded in 1950, is a UK youth cricket and disability sports charity, and one of the few official partner charities of the ECB. Its objective is to empower and impact the lives of young people facing challenges of inequality. Its previous Presidents include the former Prince of Wales (now King Charles III), Prince Edward, and Mike Gatting.
