The ICC has revealed the Player of the Month nominees for June 2025, with standout performers from South Africa, Sri Lanka, and the West Indies featuring on the men’s and women’s shortlists.
South Africa’s Aiden Markram and Kagiso Rabada headline the men’s category following their match-winning displays in the ICC World Test Championship (WTC) Final, while Sri Lanka’s Pathum Nissanka is also nominated after a dominant series against Bangladesh.
On the women’s side, the West Indies’ Hayley Matthews and Afy Fletcher join South Africa’s Tazmin Brits as nominees based on their performances in the West Indies vs South Africa bilateral series.
Men’s Player of the Month: Markram, Rabada, Nissanka nominated
- Aiden Markram (South Africa): Named Player of the Match in the WTC Final at Lord’s after scoring 136 off 207 balls in South Africa’s successful chase against Australia. He also took a wicket in each innings, including Steve Smith in the first.
- Kagiso Rabada (South Africa): Delivered a fiery spell with match figures of 9/110 in the WTC Final, removing key Australian top-order batters in both innings.
- Pathum Nissanka (Sri Lanka): Scored 369 runs across two Tests against Bangladesh, including innings of 187 and 158. Named both Player of the Match and Player of the Series.
Women’s Player of the Month: Brits, Matthews, Fletcher shortlisted
- Tazmin Brits (South Africa): Scored 184 runs at a strike rate of 87.61 in three ODIs against the West Indies, including a 101 off 91 balls. Added 132 runs in T20Is with a high of 98* from 63 balls.
- Hayley Matthews (West Indies): Tallied 104 ODI runs and 147 T20I runs, with two half-centuries and six wickets overall. Named Player of the Series in the T20Is.
- Afy Fletcher (West Indies): Took nine ODI wickets in June and led the T20I wicket charts with five scalps at an economy of 6.75. Also contributed with 30 runs across ODIs.
How to vote for the ICC Player of the Month
The ICC Player of the Month award is determined through a combination of public voting and the ICC Voting Academy. Fans can now cast their votes at icc-cricket.com/awards. The Voting Academy holds a 90% weight, while global fan votes make up the remaining 10%.
The winners for June 2025 will be announced in the second week of July via the ICC’s official channels.

The ICC Voting Academy includes prominent journalists, former players, and Hall of Fame members. Representatives from each cricket-playing nation, including Lisa Sthalekar (Australia), Ashwell Prince (South Africa), and Sana Mir (Pakistan), are among the voters.
