Mumbai Indians Women, the most successful team in WPL history, have appointed Lisa Keightley as their new Head Coach, following the departure of Charlotte Edwards, who has taken over as coach of the England Women’s team.
Keightley, a two-time ICC Women’s World Cup winner with Australia (1997, 2005), is one of the most respected figures in the global women’s game. She brings a wealth of international and franchise coaching experience, having led both the Australian and England women’s national teams, as well as top sides in the WBBL, The Hundred, and WPL.
Keightley brings proven pedigree to Mumbai Indians Women
Keightley’s appointment comes on the heels of her recent success with the Northern Superchargers, whom she guided to a women’s title in The Hundred just last month. Her leadership is expected to help the Mumbai Indians build on their remarkable WPL track record, which includes championship titles in 2023 and 2025.

From star batter to elite coach
As a player, Keightley was a stylish opening batter who represented Australia in 9 Tests, 82 ODIs, and 1 T20I. She transitioned into coaching with equal success, becoming the first woman to serve as full-time head coach of the England women’s team.

- England Women (Head Coach)
- Sydney Thunder and Perth Scorchers (WBBL)
- Northern Superchargers (The Hundred – Title Winner 2025)
- Multiple roles across the WPL
With her appointment, Mumbai Indians Women are setting their sights on a third title in four seasons and reinforcing their dominance in the Women’s Premier League.
