The Uttar Pradesh Cricket Association (UPCA) has entered a new administrative phase following its Annual General Meeting (AGM) held at a private hotel on Thursday, where Nidhipati Singhania was re-elected as president. The meeting marked a mix of continuity and change, with several new office bearers and committee appointments confirmed for the 2025–26 season.
Leadership continuity and new office bearers
The governing body retained Nidhipati Singhania as president, extending his tenure for another three-year term. Alongside him, a reshuffled leadership team was announced, reflecting both experience and fresh representation in the UPCA hierarchy.
Prem Manohar Gupta, who served as treasurer for the past three years, was elevated to the role of secretary, replacing Arvind Srivastava. Srivastava enters a mandatory cooling-off period after completing six years in major administrative positions. However, he will continue to contribute as chairman of the ten-member Cricket Development Committee for the 2025–26 season, reporting directly to Gupta.
Rakesh Mishra has been appointed vice president, while Omer Mustafa Hasan and Sachin Anand Shukla — nephew of BCCI vice president Rajeev Shukla — will serve as joint secretary and treasurer, respectively. All office bearers were elected unopposed.
Focus on infrastructure and match governance
Infrastructure and event management have been prioritized under the newly structured administration. Sanjay Kapoor has been appointed chairman of the UP T20 League governing council, taking over from former Uttar Pradesh DGP D.S. Chauhan. Kapoor and Sanjeev Kumar Singh have also joined the governing council, while the Apex Council will feature eleven members.
The International Match Organising Committee will now include Rajeev Shukla as co-chairman and Nidhipati Singhania as special invitee, with D.S. Chauhan serving as chairman. Shukla will additionally chair the Varanasi International Stadium Committee, while Riasat Ali will lead the Ghaziabad International Stadium Committee, ensuring progress in the state’s cricket infrastructure.
Selection and cricket development committees
At the same AGM, former India pacer Praveen Kumar was retained as chairman of the senior selection committee. The panel also includes Rizwan Shamshad, Ashish Winston Zaidi, Mrituanjay Tripathi, and Utkarsh Chandra as members.
For the junior selection committee, Kamal Kant Kanaujia has been appointed chairman, supported by Brijendra Singh, Ranjeet Yadav, Arvind Solanki, and Zahid Ali.
The women’s selection committee will be headed by Priyanka Shally, with Kashmira Jain, Shweta Singh, Seema Sinha, and Chammta Srivastava as members. Meanwhile, Gopal Sharma will continue to head the talent committee, which also features Aslam Ali, Sanjay Rastogi, Ratnesh Mishra, and Abhhinav Dixit.
Expanded committee framework for 2025–26
The UPCA has constituted a total of 24 subcommittees for the upcoming season, aimed at strengthening the state’s cricketing structure. Among these, the Cricket Development Committee will be chaired by Arvind Srivastava, with Anand Pathak as convener.
Navneet Sehgal will lead the Women’s Cricket Governing Council, while the Disciplinary Committee will be chaired by G.N. Tewari. The Media Committee will be overseen by Mohd Fahim, with Sanjay Kapoor as co-chairman, and Ahmad Ali Khan serving as convener.
Ground and pitch matters will be handled by V.A. Javed as chairman, and B.D. Shukla as convener. The UPCA Advisory Committee will be led by Pradeep Gupta, with Sitaram Saxena as co-chairman and Khaliq M. Khan as convener.
Strengthened vision for state cricket
With the completion of the AGM, the Uttar Pradesh Cricket Association has reinforced its commitment to developing infrastructure, strengthening its administrative framework, and expanding opportunities for emerging talent across the state.
