The Public Accounts Committee (PAC) of the National Assembly has decided to summon Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman Mohsin Naqvi for its upcoming meeting regarding the undistributed funds from PSL 8.
During a session led by PAC Chairman Junaid Akbar, the committee reviewed an audit report highlighting that approximately Rs2 billion remains unallocated between PCB and franchise owners. Audit officials briefed the committee on the issue, raising concerns over the delay in distribution.
As discussions progressed, Junaid Akbar inquired about Mohsin Naqvi’s absence. The cabinet secretary explained that he was unable to attend due to recent incidents in Quetta and Balochistan. However, committee members stressed the need for his presence. Senator Fauzia Arshad firmly insisted that the PCB chairman should be summoned, while senior politician Syed Naveed Qamar pointed out that the audit could not move forward without him.
Amid the discussion, Junaid Akbar, in a lighter moment, remarked, “Do you want me to spend the rest of my life in jail?” in response to the insistence on summoning Naqvi. Naveed Qamar then reminded the committee that they had the authority to issue notices or even arrest warrants under civil judge powers if a summons was ignored.
Following these exchanges, the PAC formally decided to call PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi to appear at its next meeting to address the matter.
