Rajasthan Royals published Jadeja’s full interview on their official YouTube channel on November 22, 2025, offering a rare insight into his mindset around the move.
“I am back in Rajasthan after fifteen years, so I feel good returning to the place where I started my journey and where I got the name Rockstar. I am doubly happy to come back to the same place. Right now, I am at a stage where I want to enjoy my cricket. Whoever calls me with love, from the heart and with respect — I will always like it,” Ravindra Jadeja said, in the interview published by Rajasthan Royals on Youtube.
Trade driven by instinct and a strong emotional pull
According to Jadeja, the move was set in motion by a call from Royals co-owner Manoj Badale, followed by a conversation with Kumar Sangakkara. Once the opportunity was presented, the decision felt natural.
“The first thought that came to my mind was to return to the team where my journey started, where I got my name and where I began as Ravindra Jadeja the cricketer.”
The 36-year-old emphasized that it wasn’t a calculated shift, but one driven by emotion and instinct. The sense of familiarity, the memories of his debut season, and the chance to return to his roots made the choice an easy one.
Rekindling the joy of cricket
While Jadeja has won accolades and lifted trophies across formats and franchises, his excitement heading into IPL 2026 is refreshingly childlike.
“When I started playing, I felt the excitement of going to the ground, practising and learning. I feel that same energy now.”

Royals’ roster sees major shakeup ahead of 2026
Jadeja joins the Royals as one of their marquee additions for the new season. Rajasthan acquired him from CSK during the pre-season trade window, using a chunk of their available purse — ₹16.05 crore (approx. US$ 1.8 million).
Other retained players include Sam Curran (also from CSK), Donovan Ferreira, Shimron Hetmyer, Yashasvi Jaiswal, and Jofra Archer. Notably, captain Sanju Samson has been traded to Chennai Super Kings, with Nitish Rana also moving to Delhi Capitals. Rajasthan currently have 9 open slots remaining, including one overseas spot.
