Republic Bank Limited has renewed its title sponsorship of the Caribbean Premier League (CPL) for another three years, reinforcing a transformative partnership that continues to shape the future of cricket in the region. The agreement also extends Republic Bank’s support of the Women’s Caribbean Premier League (WCPL) and its grassroots RBL Five for Fun youth cricket program.

First partnering with CPL in 2016 as the Official Banking Partner, Republic Bank became the Title Sponsor in 2023, marking a pivotal shift in the League’s commercial and fan engagement strategy. As the largest financial institution in the English-speaking Caribbean, Republic Bank’s continued investment aligns with CPL’s status as the region’s largest sporting event.

A strategic partnership with impact

This extended partnership comes as the CPL’s estimated economic impact for 2024 exceeds US$225.4 million, underscoring the tournament’s role in regional economic development. Republic Bank’s involvement has driven:

  • Fan-first marketing and promotional strategies
  • Enhanced digital engagement across platforms
  • Support for local communities and small businesses
  • Investment in grassroots and women’s cricket

Both CPL and Republic Bank emphasized their commitment to deepening the Caribbean identity of the tournament while supporting economic growth and regional talent development.

Leadership voices on the renewed partnership

Richard S. Sammy, Group Vice President, Republic Financial Holdings Limited and Vice President, Republic Bank Limited, commented:

“We are absolutely thrilled to renew our partnership with the Caribbean Premier League for another three years. Since 2016, we’ve been deeply committed to investing in the development of cricket across the region, and this renewed commitment is a testament to our belief in the power of the sport to bring people together and inspire a new generation of regional talent to shine brightly on a world stage.”

“This partnership is more than just a sponsorship; it’s a shared vision to enable a top-tier cricket experience for fans while providing digital-first banking solutions that meet the evolving needs of the Caribbean people.”

Pete Russell, CEO of the Republic Bank CPL, added:

“We are delighted to welcome back Republic Bank as the Title Sponsor and Official Bank of the Caribbean Premier League. They have been a phenomenal partner of the tournament and their involvement ensures three more years of investment into putting together what is one of the world’s great cricket leagues.”

“My personal thanks go out to the Republic Bank Board and Executive team in believing in the value that the CPL brings to the region and for continuing the journey with us for the next three years.”

Looking ahead to a brighter future for Caribbean cricket

As the CPL continues to grow its influence both regionally and globally, this renewed agreement strengthens the foundation for innovation, youth development, and economic opportunity in Caribbean cricket. The collaboration also affirms the shared mission of Republic Bank and CPL to create lasting impact on and off the field.
