Newlands, Cape Town – The Western Province Cricket Association (WPCA) has officially named Rory Kleinveldt as Head Coach of the World Sports Betting Western Province men’s team, signing a three-year contract following the departure of Salieg Nackerdien.
Return to Newlands after UK coaching success
Kleinveldt, 42, rejoins Western Province after a stint in England where he served as Lead Bowling Coach for Northamptonshire County Cricket Club. He brings a blend of international coaching experience and deep local insight, having previously worked as WP Assistant Coach between 2022 and 2024 and as interim Bowling Coach for the Proteas in 2023/24.
A 17-year playing legacy fuels new chapter
A legend of the Cape Cobras and Western Province, Kleinveldt played 148 First-Class, 181 List-A, and 163 T20 matches. He debuted in 2002/03 and represented South Africa in all formats before retiring in 2019 and transitioning into coaching.
