The South Australian Cricket Association is delighted to announce the instillation of two new honour boards within the storied Avenue of Honour on the western side of Adelaide Oval.

The first honour board highlights the 98 South Australian men and women who have represented Australia in Test cricket, while the second honours the ten individuals to have served as head curator at Adelaide Oval since 1872.

SACA President Will Rayner paid tribute to those featured on the honour boards and now enshrined in Adelaide Oval’s most prestigious avenue.

“We are thrilled to unveil these honour boards, with each celebrating important parts of our 153-year history,” Rayner said.

“Test cricket is the pinnacle of our great game, and to enshrine the names of so many talented men and women who achieved this while playing for South Australia is fantastic.

“Curators are unsung heroes of cricket and we have been blessed to have some of the greatest ever working at this stunning venue. It is fitting that we recognise a group of people that have had such a great influence on Adelaide Oval being recognised as one of the world’s truly great sporting grounds.

“I encourage all Members and fans to take the opportunity to walk through the Avenue of Honour at Adelaide Oval to learn about our journey.”

Former curator Les Burdett will also be honoured during the Test Match between Australia and the West Indies when he rings the Bradshaw Bell five minutes before play today, the opening day of the Test.
