Lahore, 26 May 2025 — Shaheen Shah Afridi, who led Lahore Qalandars to their third HBL PSL title in four years last night, has been named captain of the Team of HBL PSL X. The squad was selected by a panel of esteemed commentators following the conclusion of the tournament.
The HBL PSL X, held from 11 April to 25 May, was staged across four cities: Karachi, Lahore, Multan and Rawalpindi. In the final, the Qalandars defeated Quetta Gladiators by six wickets at Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore.
Shaheen, 25, not only took home the prestigious Fazal Mahmood Cap for finishing as the tournament’s top wicket-taker with 19 wickets in 13 matches, but also leads a star-studded XI that includes two of his Qalandars teammates.
Three Qalandars in the Team of the Tournament
Sikandar Raza (11 matches, 254 runs including 2 fifties, and 10 wickets) and Fakhar Zaman (13 matches, 439 runs, 4 fifties) earned their spots with consistent all-round performances.
Quetta Gladiators well-represented after runner-up finish
2019 champions Quetta Gladiators have three players in the XI: Hasan Nawaz (12 matches, 399 runs, 1 century, 3 fifties), who was named Best Batter of the tournament, Faheem Ashraf (12 matches, 163 runs, 17 wickets), and spinner Abrar Ahmed (12 matches, 17 wickets).
Strong representation from Karachi Kings
Karachi Kings, who reached Eliminator 1 before bowing out to the Qalandars on 22 May, have three players in the team: captain David Warner (11 matches, 368 runs, 3 fifties), James Vince (378 runs, 1 century, 3 fifties), and pacer Hasan Ali (10 matches, 17 wickets). Khushdil Shah (253 runs, 7 wickets) has been named the 12th man.
Top run-scorer Sahibzada Farhan earns wicketkeeper spot
Sahibzada Farhan of Islamabad United, who wore the Hanif Mohammad Cap as the tournament’s leading scorer with 449 runs in 12 matches (1 century, 3 fifties), is selected as the team’s wicketkeeper and sole representative from his franchise.
Young talent Ali Raza rounds out the XI
The final spot goes to Ali Raza of Peshawar Zalmi, who impressed with 12 wickets in nine matches in his breakthrough campaign.
