Shakib Al Hasan has been cleared to bowl again in all competitions organized by the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB), including The Hundred, following a suspension due to concerns over his bowling action. The Bangladesh all-rounder had previously been reported by the umpires after playing one game for Surrey in the County Championship in September 2024.
Subsequent to the report, an independent assessment in December revealed that his action exceeded the 15-degree threshold set by ECB regulations, leading to a suspension from bowling. This ban was extended after his action was reassessed in India, which resulted in him being barred from bowling in international cricket. Consequently, Shakib was not included in Bangladesh’s squad for the recent Champions Trophy.
However, earlier this month, the ECB conducted another inspection of Shakib’s action at Loughborough University, and the results showed that he had made the necessary corrections. This assessment led to the lifting of his suspension, allowing him to return to bowling in ECB competitions.
Shakib, the former captain of the Bangladesh national team, has played 71 Tests, 247 One-Day Internationals, and 129 T20s. As of now, he has not yet signed with a county or Hundred team for the 2025 season.
