Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) has reaffirmed continuity and stability in its leadership with the re-election of Shammi Silva as President for the 2025–2027 term. This marks Silva’s fourth consecutive term at the helm of SLC and his third uncontested election—an outcome that underscores the deep trust and confidence placed in him by the cricketing community across Sri Lanka.
The re-election was confirmed during the 64th Annual General Meeting of Sri Lanka Cricket, where the election committee formally ratified the results. Silva, along with a slate of newly elected office bearers, officially assumed duties at the SLC headquarters in Colombo shortly after the results were announced.
In addition to Silva’s reappointment, several other key leadership roles were filled. Bandula Dissanayake was elected as Honorary Secretary, while Sujeewa Godaliyadde was appointed as Honorary Treasurer. Kapuwatte was elected as Assistant Secretary. Notably, all were elected uncontested, further signaling the unified support behind the incoming administration.
Silva’s sustained tenure has been characterized by administrative continuity and a focused approach to developing Sri Lanka’s cricketing infrastructure and programs. His leadership has weathered external political pressures, yet the cricket clubs of Sri Lanka have consistently rallied behind him and his team. Their unanimous support reflects the value they place on experienced stewardship in steering the future of the sport.
This re-election also follows a period of broader institutional activity under Silva’s presidency. Sri Lanka Cricket has taken steps not only to grow the game within the country but also to support broader sporting goals, including financial contributions to the nation’s Olympic efforts. These initiatives have positioned SLC as a pillar within the national sports landscape.
As the newly elected board begins its 2025–2027 term, expectations remain high.
