India’s Shubman Gill, England’s Ben Stokes, and South Africa’s Wiaan Mulder have been named as the ICC Men’s Player of the Month nominees for July 2025, following a month of standout Test performances. On the women’s side, England’s Sophia Dunkley and Sophie Ecclestone are joined by Ireland captain Gaby Lewis after impressive showings in limited-overs cricket.
The ICC Player of the Month awards recognize outstanding international performers each month, with votes coming from an independent ICC Voting Academy and cricket fans worldwide.
ICC Men’s Player of the Month Nominees – July 2025
🇮🇳 Shubman Gill (India)
Gill was in remarkable form during India’s tour of England, scoring 567 runs at an average of 94.50 in three Tests. His 269 and 131 in Birmingham earned him Player of the Match honours, and his second-innings 103 in Manchester helped India level the series 1-1.
🇿🇦 Wiaan Mulder (South Africa)
Mulder delivered a historic all-round performance during the Zimbabwe tour. He scored 531 runs at an average of 265.60, including a national-record 367 not out. He also took 7 wickets at 15.28, including a four-wicket haul in the first Test.
🏴 Ben Stokes (England)
The England captain was a consistent contributor with both bat and ball. He amassed 251 runs at 50.20 and claimed 12 wickets at 26.33. His performance in the Manchester Test (141 runs, 5-72) stood out, earning him two Player of the Match awards.
ICC Women’s Player of the Month Nominees – July 2025
🏴 Sophia Dunkley (England)
Dunkley led England’s batting in both ODIs and T20Is against India. She scored 126 runs in three ODIs and 144 runs in four T20Is at a strike-rate of 134.57. Her 83 off 92 balls in Southampton anchored England’s ODI success.
🏴 Sophie Ecclestone (England)
The world’s top-ranked ODI bowler took 9 wickets across both formats — five in the ODIs and four in the T20Is. She also contributed with the bat, scoring 24 runs in ODIs and 65 runs in T20Is, including a quickfire 35 off 23 in Bristol.
🇮🇪 Gaby Lewis (Ireland)
Lewis starred in Ireland’s clean sweep against Zimbabwe, scoring 154 runs in three T20Is at a strike-rate of 155.55. In ODIs, she added 95 runs across two games. Her efforts earned her the Player of the Series title.
How the ICC Player of the Month Voting Works
The shortlist for each month is based on performances from the 1st to the last day of that calendar month. Votes are cast by an independent ICC Voting Academy (90% weightage) and global fans (10%). Fans can vote now at icc-cricket.com/awards.
