That intent became unmistakable when the Stallionz confirmed a high-profile overseas addition, opting to lock in a marquee name before the player auction and reshape expectations around their inaugural campaign.
Steve Smith joins Stallionz through direct signing
The Stallionz formally confirmed the arrival of Steve Smith through an announcement on their official social media channels, positioning the Australian batter as a centrepiece of their PSL 11 plans.
“One of the Biggest Signing in PSL History: A game changer, powerhouse player, we welcome Steve Smith on board as a Stallion!” the post read.

Smith’s signing comes under the league’s updated framework that allows each franchise to secure one player directly outside the traditional auction process, giving teams an opportunity to build around a guaranteed marquee name.
Form, pedigree, and a long-awaited PSL debut
Smith arrives in Pakistan off the back of an outstanding T20 season, having delivered a prolific campaign in the 2025–26 Big Bash League. He amassed 299 runs in just six matches at a strike rate of 167.97, including a century and two half-centuries, playing a pivotal role in Sydney Sixers’ run to the final.
Despite his extensive global résumé, the 36-year-old has never previously featured in the Pakistan Super League, making this signing his first appearance in the tournament and one of the most eye-catching overseas acquisitions ahead of PSL 11.
Building the Stallionz project from the top
The foundation for Sialkot’s bold PSL entry was laid even before Smith’s unveiling, as the franchise announced former Australian captain Tim Paine as their head coach. Smith’s arrival is part of a broader blueprint taking shape at Sialkot Stallionz. The franchise, acquired by OZ Developers in a record bid of PKR 1.85 billion (approx. US$ 6.55 million), is one of two new teams added as the league expands to eight sides.
With Paine’s leadership in the dugout and Smith at the top of the batting order, Sialkot are building around Australian pedigree to make a forceful debut. Together, the two figures bring vast international experience, shaping a franchise culture built on professionalism and ambition.
