Sky Sports will continue to bring live Big Bash League (BBL) and Women’s Big Bash League (WBBL) matches to cricket fans across the UK and Ireland after extending its broadcast partnership with Cricket Australia for another four years.
An inaugural broadcaster of the BBL, Sky Sports remains a key partner as both the KFC BBL and Weber WBBL prepare for a new season featuring the world’s top short-form cricket talent.
Morning T20 cricket for UK audiences
With most matches scheduled in the morning UK time, fans across the region will again enjoy live access to world-class T20 action throughout the winter months. The leagues will showcase a mix of international stars and British talent including Sam Curran, Sam Billings, Jamie Overton, and Chris Jordan in the BBL, as well as Nat Sciver-Brunt, Sophie Ecclestone, and Heather Knight in the WBBL.
BBL viewership and attendance surging
The Big Bash Leagues continue to deliver strong audience engagement across all platforms. The 2024–25 season was the most-watched BBL season under the current broadcast rights deals. Last summer’s average attendance of 22,076 was the highest per match since 2017–18 and ranked second across all Australian sports leagues.
The official Big Bash mobile app has also become the top-ranked sports app in Australia on both Apple and Google Play, offering fans exclusive content and interactive experiences.
Cricket Australia and Sky Sports on continued partnership
Kate Ingber, Cricket Australia EGM, Legal and Business Affairs, said:
“We’re delighted Sky Sports will continue to showcase the Weber WBBL and KFC BBL to their large viewing audiences across the UK for the next four years.
From their very first seasons the Big Bash Leagues have enjoyed fantastic engagement with British fans who wake up to the excitement and drama of world class T20 cricket during the winter months.
This latest agreement with Sky Sports helps us ensure the WBBL and BBL will continue to grow its global audience, entrenching its long-held reputation as one of the world’s premier T20 tournaments.”
Bryan Henderson MBE, Sky Sports Director of Cricket and NFL, added:
“We’re really excited that the Big Bash Leagues will remain a key part of our comprehensive cricket offering on Sky Sports, bringing world-class T20 action to our audiences during the winter.
This four-year extension means we can commit to showcasing one of the most entertaining tournaments in the global cricket calendar, at a time when both the men’s and women’s competitions are going from strength to strength.”
Sky Sports’ year-round cricket offering
The deal reinforces Sky Sports’ position as a year-round destination for cricket fans in the UK and Ireland, complementing its coverage of England internationals, ICC events, The Hundred, IPL, and now four more years of Big Bash cricket.
