India’s star opener Smriti Mandhana has returned to the pinnacle of the ICC Women’s ODI Batting Rankings, reclaiming the No. 1 position for the first time since November 2019.
The 28-year-old rose one slot to top the list with 727 rating points, overtaking South Africa’s captain Laura Wolvaardt, who dropped to joint-second place alongside England’s Nat Sciver-Brunt after modest scores of 27 and 28 in the ongoing ODI series against the West Indies.
Mandhana ends Wolvaardt’s six-month reign
Wolvaardt had held the No. 1 spot for over six months, but Mandhana’s consistent form and recent performances have elevated her back to the summit of women’s ODI cricket batting.
Other major movements in ICC ODI Rankings
- Tazmin Brits (South Africa) moved up five places to 27th after scoring a half-century in the first ODI against West Indies.
- Suné Luus climbed seven spots to 42nd after a solid 76-run performance in the second ODI. She also jumped seven places to 42nd in the bowlers’ list.
- Qiana Joseph (West Indies) advanced 12 slots to joint-67th following her innings of 60 in the first ODI.
Spinners gain in bowlers’ rankings
Afy Fletcher and Nonkululeko Mlaba made significant progress in the bowling rankings after each claimed four wickets in the second ODI:
- Afy Fletcher: Up four places to 19th
- Nonkululeko Mlaba: Up six places to 23rd
The three-match ODI series between South Africa Women and West Indies Women is currently level at 1–1 after South Africa bounced back with a 40-run victory in Barbados over the weekend.
