Sydney Thunder are proud to announce Return and Earn as our Official Recycling Partner ahead of the upcoming Weber WBBL |12 and KFC BBL|16 seasons.

Return and Earn, NSW’s largest litter reduction initiative since 2017, will also be the match day presenting partner for the blockbuster BBL Sydney Smash on December 19.

Tickets for the Sydney Smash presented by Return and Earn are on sale now! Last year’s match sold out, so get in quick to secure your seat.

Each week, more than 40 million drink containers are returned through the network for recycling, with millions of dollars in refunds going back to communities to support everyday expenses, savings and local causes.

Members of the public can take their eligible bottles, cans or cartons to one of over 660 return points across the state and receive a 10c refund for each one.

Sydney Thunder General Manager Trent Copeland said;

“Return and Earn is a great initiative and one we immediately jumped at. It’s a program that delivers real benefits for communities right across NSW and can help us have a real impact in our heartland of Western Sydney.

“We’re proud to partner with an organisation that makes recycling simple, rewards people for doing the right thing and creates a positive impact beyond the game.”

Danielle Smalley, CEO of Exchange for Change, Return and Earn scheme coordinator said:

“It is wonderful that the Sydney Thunder is leading by example to highlight how every recycled container makes a difference and delivers lasting benefits for fans and their communities.

“Sharing our passion for recycling with passionate sports fans will showcase the environmental, social and financial benefits of Return and Earn statewide.”

Donna Davis MP, State Member for Parramatta:

“With over 16.5 billion containers recycled, it is clear NSW loves Return and Earn as much as they love cricket.

“I’m so pleased Thunder players and fans are getting behind this positive program and championing sustainability.”

This partnership continues Thunder’s commitment to sustainability after becoming the first Big Bash club to run a carbon neutral match in KFC BBL|14.

Thunder’s WBBL|12 campaign kicks off on Thursday, October 29 in Melbourne before their first home game at Drummoyne Oval on Sunday, November 1.

The club’s BBL|16 season begins in Canberra on December 16, before returning to ENGIE Stadium for the highly anticipated Sydney Smash presented by Return and Earn on December 19.
