Former England U19 coach to oversee batting development across national programs

Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) has appointed Tim Boon, former head coach of Leicestershire County Cricket Club and England U19, as a batting consultant and high-performance coach for a one-month assignment starting May 8.

As part of his role, Boon will focus on enhancing the batting skills and technical approach of players across multiple levels of Sri Lankan cricket. This includes the Sri Lanka Women’s National Team, Women’s ‘A’ Team, Men’s Emerging Team, and the U17 National Team.

His appointment is part of SLC’s broader commitment to elevating high-performance systems and ensuring skill progression across the national pathway.

“Tim Boon brings extensive coaching experience at the international and county levels, and his expertise will directly support the technical and tactical development of our batters,” an SLC official said.

Focus on technique, tactics, and performance improvement

During his month-long tenure, Boon will conduct specialized technical and tactical sessions aimed at improving player confidence, shot selection, and match-readiness across formats.

Boon’s approach is expected to impact both short-term performances and long-term development within Sri Lanka’s high-performance structure—especially at the emerging and youth levels.

This initiative aligns with SLC’s strategic emphasis on investing in elite coaching resources to prepare the next generation of players for international success.
