TNT Sports adds Asia Cup to its cricket portfolio
Cricket fans in the UK and Ireland will have a new destination for the Asia Cup 2025, with every match set to be broadcast live and exclusively on TNT Sports and its streaming home discovery+.
According to multiple reports, TNT Sports will showcase all 19 matches of the men’s Twenty20 tournament, which runs from September 9 to 28 in the UAE, across Dubai’s International Cricket Stadium and Abu Dhabi’s Sheikh Zayed Cricket Stadium. This year marks the first time the event has expanded to eight teams, with India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, and Bangladesh joined by Afghanistan, Hong Kong, Oman, and the UAE.
Rights secured through Sony deal
The broadcaster has obtained the rights through a sub-licensing agreement with Sony Pictures Networks, which last year signed a seven-year deal with the Asian Cricket Council (ACC). That agreement covers the 2025 and 2027 editions of the men’s Asia Cup, along with multiple editions of the women’s competition.
The move strengthens TNT Sports’ growing cricket portfolio. In addition to the Asia Cup, the broadcaster holds rights for New Zealand Cricket, Cricket West Indies, and Cricket Australia, including Australia’s men’s and women’s internationals. Later this year, TNT will also carry the men’s Ashes series in Australia.
Expansion signals bigger stage for the Asia Cup
The Asia Cup’s growth from six to eight teams reflects the tournament’s increasing profile and its role in preparing teams ahead of global ICC events. TNT Sports also held the rights for the 2023 edition in Pakistan and Sri Lanka, but this year’s UAE staging provides broader reach and accessibility for fans in the UK and Ireland.
While Sky Sports continues to dominate domestic cricket rights in the UK, TNT’s latest move gives it another marquee international tournament to showcase, adding further depth to its portfolio in a competitive market.
