The World Championship of Legends (WCL) has confirmed its return for Season 3 in October 2026, with seven teams set to compete in the latest edition of the tournament. Widely recognised as the Legends World Cup, the competition will once again feature former international players alongside active franchise cricketers from around the world who are not centrally contracted to their national boards. The upcoming season is expected to renew some of cricket’s most iconic rivalries, including contests between India Champions and Pakistan Champions.
Season 3 will feature India Champions, Pakistan Champions, England Champions, Australia Champions, South Africa Champions, West Indies Champions, and Bangladesh Champions. The tournament follows two editions that helped establish WCL as a platform combining cricket nostalgia with competitive action, while attracting players with experience across international cricket and global T20 leagues.
Seven teams set for October showdown
The tournament has built its reputation around assembling a player pool that blends legendary former internationals with active cricketers still competing in franchise competitions worldwide. That combination has helped differentiate the event from traditional exhibition matches by maintaining a competitive environment while celebrating some of the sport’s most recognisable names.
The organisers believe the presence of active franchise players alongside retired stars has contributed to both the quality of cricket and the tournament’s growing popularity among fans. The format has also enabled supporters to revisit historic rivalries that shaped international cricket across multiple generations.
As previously reported by cricexec, India Champions did not face Pakistan Champions during the previous edition after withdrawing from both the group-stage fixture and the semifinal amid political tensions. Pakistan Champions subsequently advanced to the final following India’s withdrawal from the knockout match, adding further attention to the prospect of the two teams returning to the competition in Season 3.
Tournament growth continues after two seasons
Since its launch, WCL has expanded its profile among cricket audiences by offering fans the opportunity to watch celebrated players return to competitive cricket. The tournament’s ability to combine nostalgia with contemporary franchise-cricket talent has helped drive interest across global markets.
