In a landmark development for Zimbabwean cricket, the country is set to host the International Cricket Council (ICC) Board and Committee meetings for the first time—signaling a major step forward in its rising global cricket profile. The Zimbabwe Cricket (ZC) governing body announced the historic milestone this week.
The high-level ICC meetings will take place in two stages: first in Harare on April 10–11, 2025, and then move to the iconic Victoria Falls from April 12–13, offering international cricket leaders a chance to experience both Zimbabwe’s administrative readiness and its world-renowned natural beauty.
The event is expected to attract top-tier delegates including ICC Chairman Jay Shah and members of the ICC Board, along with key decision-makers from across the international cricketing landscape. The agenda will cover crucial topics including governance reforms, strategic growth plans, and operational matters that will help shape the future of global cricket.
Tavengwa Mukuhlani, Chairman of Zimbabwe Cricket, called the hosting honor both a national and organizational milestone:
“This is a proud and historic moment for Zimbabwe Cricket (ZC) and our country as a whole. We are fully prepared to host the esteemed cricket leaders and to showcase the beauty, warmth, and hospitality of our nation.”
“This event underscores Zimbabwe’s growing role in the global cricketing landscape and presents us with a unique platform to engage with key stakeholders in shaping the future of the game.”
This marks the first time Zimbabwe will play host to the ICC’s top decision-making body, reinforcing its expanding role in international cricket diplomacy. The meetings are not only pivotal for policy and governance but also present an unparalleled opportunity for Zimbabwe to assert itself as a serious stakeholder in cricket’s global growth trajectory.
Zimbabwe Cricket is working in close collaboration with the ICC to ensure seamless execution of the meetings, with arrangements focusing on both security and hospitality. The move is being seen as a boost not just for the sport’s profile in Zimbabwe, but also for the country’s image as an emerging destination for international sporting events.
With attention turning to Harare and Victoria Falls next April, Zimbabwe is set to shine on the global stage, highlighting both its cricketing ambitions and its capacity to host world-class events with excellence and distinction.
