Big crowds are guaranteed at the MCG for the historic 150th Anniversary Test Match between Australia and England from March 11-15, 2027, after an enormous response to the ticket sale ballot.

With the first ball of the Day/Night Test to be bowled exactly one year from today, more than 125,000 public tickets for the first four days have already been sold.

The majority of the available public tickets for the first three days were sold with fans snapping up tickets for Day 1 (39,564 tickets sold), Day 2 (42,010) and Day 3 (36,153).

The significant interest across Australia and the cricket world in the landmark match was emphasised by the fact more than half the tickets (68,289) were purchased by fans outside Victoria.

The remaining tickets for Days 3 and 4 go on public sale today (March 11) at 10am AEDT.

There will be more information about MCC and AFL Member ticket sales at a later date.

The 150th Anniversary Test will be a celebration of both the historic Australia-England rivalry that was ignited during the first Test at the MCG in 1877 and also the past, present and future of the game across the globe.

Todd Greenberg, CA CEO said:

“We knew there would be strong demand for tickets to the 150th Anniversary Test but the response both locally and from overseas has been phenomenal and justifies the decision to hold our first ticket ballot.

“These sales ensure there will be huge crowds for what will be a momentous occasion and I would urge anyone who wants to attend to buy their tickets now.

“We have some fantastic plans in place to ensure the Test and the accompanying entertainment and events will provide a fitting celebration of a very significant milestone.

“Most importantly, we will honour the great players who have made Test cricket such wonderful and enduring sporting theatre, and we can’t wait to welcome the cricket world to Melbourne.”

Hon Steve Dimopoulos, Minister for Tourism, Sport and Major Events said:

“The 150th Anniversary Test will be a once-in-a-generation moment for cricket fans, and there’s no better place to celebrate it than the MCG.”

“Matches like this and the Boxing Day Test showcase Melbourne to the world and bring visitors to our hotels, restaurants and local businesses.”

“From packed stands at the ‘G to events right across the city, our partnership with Cricket Australia will make next year’s Test one of the biggest celebrations of cricket the country has ever seen.”
