The Perth Scorchers are set to launch their jam-packed 2021-22 KFC Big Bash League campaign in Perth for the first time in five years, following the official release of the schedule by Cricket Australia.

Scorchers Members and fans will witness their three-time BBL champions kickstart their campaign on home soil when they take on the Brisbane Heat and Adelaide Strikers at Optus Stadium in the opening week of the competition.

Scorchers supporters can look forward to a school holidays bonanza of cricket, highlighted by the return of the marquee Boxing Day clash against the Melbourne Renegades.

The home schedule sees a festive season flurry of fixtures, with five home matches falling in the heart of the school summer holidays.

The Scorchers had a stellar BBL|10 campaign rewarded by broadcasters and in another win for fans, the side will play 10 free to air matches on the Seven Network this season, including six in national primetime.

All matches will also be broadcast on Fox Cricket and available online through Kayo’s streaming platform.

Perth will round out their home season with massive back-to-back blockbusters against the Sydney Sixers and Sydney Thunder on January 5 and 6 respectively.

Perth Scorchers head coach Adam Voges said;

“We’re very pleased we’ve been given the opportunity to begin BBL|11 at home in front of our Members and fans.

“The incredible level of support we get from Scorchers supporters at home is rarely matched across the League, our performances at Optus Stadium last year reflected that.

“We’re excited about the squad we have, we’re looking forward to the summer ahead.”

Minister for Sport and Recreation the Hon. Dr Tony Buti MLA said;

“I am very excited for the Perth Scorchers upcoming Big Bash League campaign for 2021-2022.

“To experience a Scorchers’ Big Bash League match, at Australia’s best stadium – Optus Stadium, is one of the best sporting spectacles in the country.

“I encourage all WA cricket fans to get behind the Scorchers team for another fantastic BBL season this summer.”

Perth Scorchers General Manager – Commercial, Marketing & Communication Shay Nasta said;

“Following feedback from our supporters, we were able to work with the League to secure more evening matches at home across the school holiday period which is a fantastic result.

“The return of the Boxing Day match is one of the many highlights of this season’s fixtures as is the unique opportunity to host back to back matches against the two Sydney teams to close out the home leg of our regular season.

“Last season we had close to 100,000 Members and fans attend four Scorchers matches across nine days and we’re looking forward to building on that great support as we return to a full schedule of home matches.”
