The League has today confirmed the full fixture for Weber WBBL|07, which will see Tasmania host the first 24 matches of the 59-game season, adding four additional games to be played at Launceston’s University of Tasmania Stadium, before the competition moves on to Western Australia, Queensland and South Australia.

Changes were made due to state border restrictions and public health conditions, allowing Cricket Australia, the league and all club participants to prioritise the health and safety of all players, staff and fans throughout the competition.

Of these four extra games, two of these will feature the home team, the Hobart Hurricanes – meaning they will play their first eight matches on local turf, with three games at Blundstone Arena, one game at Invermay park and four games at University of Tasmania Stadium.

Significantly, Weber WBBL|07 will be the first season in which all fixtures are televised, across Seven, Foxtel and Kayo, allowing Hurricanes fans to follow the team after the initial home stand.

“We’ve always said that we’ll be read to take more cricket content on from a moment’s notice,” said Cricket Tasmania CEO, Dominic Baker, “and hosting as many games of the WBBL season is a part of that.”

“It’s fantastic that Tasmanians will have the chance to watch so much of the world’s best female cricketers in action, and we implore them to get out there, cheer on their heroes, and make the most of this fantastic opportunity not just for Tasmanian cricket, but Tasmanian sport in general.”

The Hurricanes first match of the season will be held at Hobart’s Blundstone Arena next Saturday, October 16, against the Melbourne Renegades.
